Frequently Asked Questions
Security
1. How secure is the privacy of my e-mail?
The BreņaMail service does not affect your email's security.
First of all, email itself is inherently not
secure. Email messages are sent in clear, unencrypted plain
text format across many networks and
often through multiple mail servers before arriving at their
destination. Essentially, BreņaMail's
service represents only an additional 'hop' on the Internet
before email is delivered to a company's
mail server.
Moreover, BreņaMail does not back-up or make copies of email
messages, other than temporarily
queuing messages when a customer’s mail server is down. Your
email messages are not accessed by
anybody other than the intended recipients, and the log
files maintained by BreņaMail contain only
message header information rather than message contents.
2. Can BreņaMail improve the
security of our email?
Yes, BreņaMail can provide email encryption services via the
StartTLS protocol, so that email
messages are transmitted in
a secure, encrypted fashion rather than in plain text.
